ICGA – The Iraqi Cultural Group in Australia is a group of all age from seniors, youth and children and other community members that have a middle eastern background, most of members are Iraqi. It’s been an honor for ICGA to be supported by the council and the community.
The ICGA usually meets once a month, the second Sunday of every month. One of the most important objectives for the group is to support each other in a way that everyone finds their place in the community especially young people, how each person can benefit the group to help ourselves and our community to be safe, secure and to be happy.
The venue for the meeting is in Point cook learning center.
Additionally, the ICGA’s goals is to helping Iraqi and other immigrant peoples to be more confident and meld with Australian community; speaking English, hobbies such as painting, drawing, gardening, sewing, as well as education on essential that benefit the community at large such as recycling, saving water and power, and how to protect themself and their homes.
Furthermore, to support the group members physically, mentally and to help each other by creating a strong bond between Australian and Iraqi culture.
ICGA has more volunteering activities within the Wyndham council, the activities are cleaning Werribee river, cleaning streets, providing medical centers and hospitals with masks and gowns (within the time of Covid 19) and contribution with different projects.
